Hiking through the Lençóis Maranhenses is much more than a simple stroll: it's an immersion in the grandeur of nature. Between golden dunes, crystal-clear lagoons, and surprising oases, each day of this journey reveals unique and enchanting scenery. From sunrise to sunset, the adventure combines physical exertion, deep connection with the local culture, and unforgettable moments of contemplation. A journey for those seeking to disconnect from routine and connect with the beauty and power of life in the watery deserts of Maranhão.
Tour itinerary:
Day 1 – Barreirinhas → Caburé → Bonzinho → Baixa Grande Oasis
Depart Barreirinhas at 8:30 a.m. by speedboat along the Preguiças River. Along the way, we'll visit Vassouras, Mandacaru (with a stop at the Preguiça Lighthouse), and then continue on to Caburé, where lunch will be served.
Next, we head to Porto de Atins, where a 4x4 takes us to Bonzinho. From there, we begin a 9km hike to the Baixa Grande Oasis, where we'll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2 – Baixa Grande Oasis → Queimada dos Britos Oasis
Departure at 7:00 am, with a 12 km walk through the dunes and lagoons to the Queimada dos Britos Oasis.
There, we'll have lunch, dinner, and rest. In the afternoon, we'll climb the dune to watch a beautiful sunset.
Day 3 – Queimada dos Britos Oasis → Betânia Oasis
Departure at 3:00 am, on a 17 km hike, passing several lagoons with crystal clear waters and unique landscapes until reaching the Betânia Oasis.
There we'll have lunch, dinner, and spend the night. In the late afternoon, we'll enjoy another natural spectacle: the sunset over the dunes.
Day 4 – Betânia Oasis → Santo Amaro
Departure at 6:00 am, on a 12 km walk to our final destination: Santo Amaro.
